Growing Concerns Over Left-Wing Violence

Recent findings from The Atlantic indicate that left-wing violence has escalated significantly since Donald Trump entered the political scene in 2016. According to their report, a dataset examining 750 attacks from January 1994 to July 2025 shows that incidents attributed to left-wing extremists now surpass those linked to the political right. By July 4th this year, both sides had initiated or attempted five attacks.

The analysis suggests that the rise of Trump and the MAGA movement has rekindled left-wing extremism, with 37 incidents reported between 2016 and 2024. Many of these were reportedly fueled by partisan feelings. Alarmingly, as of July 2025, leftist militants were already implicated in five serious incidents, putting the year on track to be the most violent for left-wing activism in over three decades.

A tweet by Riley Moore emphasizes that even a traditionally left-leaning outlet like The Atlantic acknowledges the increasing threat of left-wing terrorism in the country.

In contrast, right-wing violence has seen a decline. The only significant right-wing incident in 2025 was the tragic assassination of Democratic Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband in June. During Barack Obama’s presidency, right-wing terrorism was more prevalent, with 106 attacks and plots reported.

Trump himself has been a target; he survived two assassination attempts in 2024 alone, one in July when a 20-year-old shot at a rally, and another in September at his golf club in Florida.

Additionally, Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot in September while allegedly targeted by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who had reportedly embraced leftist ideologies. Reports indicate that Robinson was associated with a trans-identifying individual and was involved in certain subcultures.

The report also highlights the troubling trend of rising violent incidents and murders among transgender individuals, despite them making up around 1% of the U.S. population. A notable case involved a trans-identifying person firing shots in a Catholic church, resulting in two fatalities during Mass.

Lastly, emerging documents have linked Nicholas Rosuke, the accused assassin of a Supreme Court judge, with assertions about Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s gender identity.
