Republican Representative Tom Tiffany enters the race for governor of Wisconsin.

Rep. Tom Tiffany, a Republican from Wisconsin, has kicked off his campaign for governor of the state.

In his campaign video, he remarked, “Madison politics often feels a bit like a barn, but I know how to clean things up. I’m ready to dive in and deliver real results for Wisconsin.” He also emphasized his goals, stating, “I intend to freeze property taxes and safeguard our farmland from any foreign threats, especially from China. My commitment to Wisconsin values is as strong as my mother’s commitment to her pickles.”

Tiffany has served in the U.S. House since May 2020 after winning a special election to fill a seat left vacant by Republican Sean Duffy.

Duffy, currently working as the secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, previously held the position. It’s worth noting that while President Trump managed to win Wisconsin in both 2024 and 2016, he lost the state in 2020.

The upcoming governor’s race will be open, as current Democratic Governor Tony Evers has decided not to seek a third term. Other contenders include Washington County Executive Josh Scheman, who welcomed Tiffany to the race on social media, expressing eagerness for the Republican primary and a focus on innovative ideas to reclaim the governor’s office.

Additionally, there’s a former Navy SEAL, Bill Verien, who announced his candidacy as well. He criticized the existing leadership in Madison, saying, “After years of bureaucratic rule, we simply can’t afford another career politician in charge. We need to focus on fostering economic growth and revitalizing our manufacturing sector.”
