Harris criticizes Biden's team for exacerbating attacks on her: book

Criticism from Kamala Harris on Biden’s Communications Team

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has voiced her critiques of the Biden administration’s communications team in her latest book. She notes how, despite having a substantial team and daily press briefings from Karine Jean-Pierre, it was nearly impossible to mount a positive defense against false narratives about her.

Harris commented that the president’s close advisors appeared indifferent when unjust or misleading stories circulated about her, suggesting it felt as though they wanted to diminish her image even further.

In a chapter titled “July 24: Until the 104 Days Election,” she expressed that Biden’s team didn’t just fail to support her; she felt they opposed her initiatives at times. It was frustrating, as she believed the White House didn’t seem too concerned with the significant progress she had made in diplomatic relations.

Moreover, Harris highlighted how the staff often fueled negative portrayals of her, pointing out her grievances with Biden’s approach to his role on border issues. She felt there was a lack of support to clarify her responsibilities and achievements.

In another section, Harris addressed the administration’s handling of the conflict between Hamas and Israel, mentioning that her insights were unwelcome among Biden’s entourage when they highlighted contrasting opinions.

She also recounted her experiences with Biden’s campaign team and their meetings at the White House, often expressing confusion over their messaging strategies. One poignant remark from her Chief of Staff, Lorraine Boles, suggested that the campaign meetings felt like an exercise in futility.

Harris quoted her husband, Doug Emov, expressing frustration towards the Biden team, especially regarding loyalty assessments that arose right before Biden exited the race.

She lamented, “They hide you for four years, make your role difficult, and don’t correct mischaracterizations. Now, after all that, they still question my loyalty.” Harris concluded her reflections by criticizing the White House for its zero-sum mentality. She felt that her success seemed to be perceived as a threat to Biden’s own standing, illustrating a deep rift in their perceived collaboration.
