Trump claims UN escalator failure was 'definitely sabotage' – demands arrests

Trump Calls for Investigation After Escalator Incident at UN

President Trump has demanded an arrest related to a malfunctioning escalator at the United Nations headquarters.

This unexpected stop, which nearly caused a fall for the First Lady, was one of several incidents during her visit for the UN General Assembly in New York.

“A real stigma occurred at the United Nations yesterday. Not just one, but three very ominous events!” Trump shared on True Social Wednesday.

“First, the escalator leading to the main speaking floor came to an abrupt halt. It was surprising that Melania and I didn’t end up tumbling down those sharp steel stairs,” he added.

Trump described the escalator incident as “absolutely obstructive,” highlighting rumors that staff may have deliberately stopped it, forcing him to walk to the hall for his speech instead.

“Those who do that should be arrested!” he expressed with frustration.

A UN spokesperson suggested that the president’s aides might be to blame for the escalator’s halt.

“Videographers from the US delegation intervened with the escalator before the president and First Lady’s arrival,” said Stephen Dujarric, a spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General. “When the videographer reached the top, the escalator stopped at that moment.”

Dujarric explained that an investigation showed the escalator stopped due to a safety mechanism being activated. This is meant to prevent accidents and obstructions.

“The videographer may have inadvertently triggered those safety features,” he noted.

During Trump’s speech, his teleprompter also failed, and he claimed many audience members couldn’t hear him without headphones.

“It was a cold stone,” he remarked about the teleprompter. “Initially, there was an escalator event, and now this. What’s going on here?”

He mentioned it resumed functioning about 15 minutes in.

Trump learned about the audio issues after his speech, asking Melania, “How did you manage?”

She replied, “I couldn’t hear what you said,” he recounted.

“This wasn’t a coincidence. It was a triple sabotage at the United Nations. They should be ashamed,” he concluded.

The United Nations has not yet responded to requests for comment.
