Kamala Harris Reveals Insights in New Book
Rep. Jasmine Crockett from Texas was highlighted in Kamala Harris’s new memoir, “107 Days,” which was released on Tuesday. The title references the duration of Harris’s presidential campaign in 2024, offering a look into her experiences during that brief time.
Harris touches on the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and emphasizes the necessity for the party to showcase its prominent figures in an engaging manner. “It’s beneficial for the party,” she stated, hinting at the strategic positioning of stars within the party.
Crockett was part of the group of young Democratic leaders that Harris informally referred to as the “Star Project.” In her book, Harris writes about the inception of this project, shared only with her senior team, aiming to highlight the party’s emerging talents.
“Upon becoming VP, I initiated a secretive project, known only to my close team,” Harris reflected. She invited various young leaders, noting their initial anxiety. “Many felt nervous, but we discussed their potential,” she recalled.
Among those mentioned were Lauren Underwood, Robert Garcia, and Jasmine Crockett. The latter has stirred reactions recently after drawing controversial parallels in her public speeches.
Crockett had previously made headlines for her comments regarding law enforcement policies and is facing criticism for her remarks about white lawmakers in light of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
At the DNC, Crockett spoke about her own experiences as a newcomer in Congress, expressing her initial uncertainties and recounting anecdotes from her early days, including an emotional meeting with Harris. “I remember thinking whether I had made the right choice,” she shared, recalling the chaotic environment around her.
The book and recent speeches highlight not only Harris’s strategies as vice president but also the dynamics within the party as members navigate complex political landscapes.
