Greta Samberg, a Swedish protestor, is currently on a mission with supporters, heading toward Gaza which is controlled by Hamas. Their journey involves a fleet of 51 ships, while adversaries have taken to blasting ABBA music, hijacking the radio systems to disrupt communications within the anti-Israel convoy.
The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) has been using tracks from the famous Swedish band to claim that they are under a coordinated radio jamming attack, supposedly linked to Israel.
“We’re experiencing these psychological tactics first hand, but it doesn’t intimidate us,” they noted. The term “sumud” means “resilience,” as reported by NBC News.
The activists were subjected to repeated playings of ABBA’s “Lay All Your Love on Me”, which, according to some, could hint at Thunberg’s Swedish roots.
Reports indicate that several ships in the activists’ convoy are facing potential intervention, as noted by GB News.
“They’re jamming our radio,” expressed GSF member Yasemin Acar in a video while ABBA was overpowering the background sound.
“I’m not certain about the source of this noise, but it seems that other vessels are in a similar situation.”
Maritime activists allege that on Tuesday, five ships were targeted by Israeli military drones, which resulted in damages to masts and communication equipment.
The flotilla departed from Barcelona in late August and has been embroiled in internal strife and factional disputes, according to reports.
Samberg had previously attempted to travel in June but was detained and sent back by Israeli authorities.
This reoccurrence seems likely to happen again.
Israel has stated that it will prevent the fleet from reaching conflict-ridden areas.
“Israel will not permit ships to enter active war zones and will uphold established naval blockades,” a representative mentioned.
“If their intentions are genuine, they should deliver aid to a nearby marina in Ashkelon. This way, it can be transferred to the Gaza Strip peacefully,” he stated.
