Farmingdale, New York – Former President Donald Trump is set to kick off his weekend by attending the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black on Friday.
Team USA’s captain, Keegan Bradley, expressed his excitement while standing at the first tee, clearly buzzing with anticipation.
On the flip side, one member of Team Europe appears to be taking a different approach.
Robert McIntyre, a Scottish golfer, was asked about Trump’s ties to Scotland, particularly his ownership of the renowned Turnberry course, as well as his feelings toward the Ryder Cup at People’s Country Club.
But McIntyre seems to be focused solely on the game. “Honestly, I’m just here to play golf. There isn’t much room in my mind for politics,” he remarked. “I’ll be concentrating on the golf course. We’re here to work hard as Europeans and aim to win the Ryder Cup.”
Interestingly, the Ryder Cup marks Trump’s third sporting event of the month, having also attended the men’s US Open Finals and a Yankees game just days before.
According to world number one Scotty Scheffler, Trump’s presence on Friday is quite significant, especially after a challenging few weeks. “It’s crucial to us that the president is here, on our home soil. Regardless of the complexities around it all, we’re thrilled to compete here,” Scheffler noted.
The first tee time is scheduled for 7:10 AM.
