James Comey Faces Possible Perjury Indictment

Former FBI Director James Comey may soon be indicted for perjury, as federal prosecutors prepare to take action. This development is expected in the next few days.

The investigation, led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Virginia, focuses on whether Comey misled Congress during his testimony on September 30, 2020, regarding the inquiry into potential Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Prosecutors have a five-year window to bring charges, with the deadline approaching next Tuesday.

“DOJ officials are contemplating an indictment of Comey, who allegedly lied during his Congressional testimony in 2020,” an unnamed source revealed. “A significant judicial review is taking place in Virginia, and a decision could be imminent.”

Since the onset of his presidency, Donald Trump has been vocal about his disdain for Comey, notably firing him in 2017 after a brief tenure.

“I think they’re very dishonest people. They are, perhaps, seriously skewed,” Trump remarked in July about Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan. “And maybe they ought to face consequences.”

For years, Trump has maintained that the investigations into his campaign’s ties to Russia were baseless, labeling them a “Russian hoax,” which further strained U.S.-Russia relations.

Comey maintains he did not lie under oath.

If a federal jury endorses the prosecution next week, it would mark one of the most prominent charges against a political figure during Trump’s second term.

During his time leading the FBI under Trump, Comey documented his meetings with the president. That same year, he testified that he had shared documents with a friend, instructing him to pass the information to the media.

Two years later, Department of Justice inspectors concluded that Comey had breached agency protocols by leaking details from the memos.

When the DOJ report was released, Trump took to Twitter, stating, “Perhaps in our country’s history, there has never been someone as embarrassingly excessive as James Comey. He should be ashamed!”

In 2020, during Senate Judiciary proceedings, Comey reiterated his earlier claims, asserting he did not leak classified information nor instruct others to do so.

This is a lie under oath, with former FBI Director James Comey asserting that President Trump’s campaign was not spied upon. He is set to face charges “in the coming days.” Good riddance.
