Tragic Death of Oklahoma Man Linked to “Tiger King”

A man from Oklahoma, associated with Joe Exotic from Netflix’s “Tiger King,” tragically lost his life during a tiger performance.

Ryan Easley, 37, owned the Groller Pines Tiger Preserve. His parents announced on Facebook that he “died in an accident involving a tiger” on Saturday.

According to a heartfelt post, Groller Pines was more than just a job for Ryan—it was his passion and life’s calling. His parents spoke of his bravery, kindness, and deep commitment to wildlife.

People from PETA noted that Easley had connections with exotic animal handlers and had previously provided animals to them. In a social media post, Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, expressed his condolences, stating, “No one can blame the tiger for what happened. We are all taking risks in what we are doing. No additional laws are needed to ban tigers for this.” He also referred to his long-standing relationship with Easley.

PETA criticized Easley’s facility, labeling it a “roadside zoo” and accused it of housing animals in conditions akin to a cruel circus.

The spokesperson for PETA commented on the dangers of humans interacting with apex predators, saying it’s not surprising when big cats, stressed from confinement and mistreatment, react aggressively.

Authorities revealed that the tiger involved in the incident was trusted to be handled by Easley. Sheriff Terry Park indicated that the attack happened during the performance, but the reasons behind the tiger’s sudden aggression remain unclear.

In light of this incident, PETA urged wildlife exhibitors to consider transferring animals to certified sanctuaries, promoting a more humane approach to animal care.
