Bill Maher Critiques Progressive Ideologies on “Real Time”

During a recent episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the host shared his thoughts on what he termed “Old America,” suggesting that a shift in perspective is needed for it to be part of a Democratic agenda.

“If we’re going to go back to old America, it has to become part of a Democrat bargain. Stop introducing these fundamentally new, and often alarming ideas, while also insisting that we shouldn’t discuss them,” Maher remarked.

He kicked off the segment by scrutinizing Democratic support for men participating in women’s sports, pointing out that there seems to be a lot of this on the left side of the spectrum.

He elaborated on how conservatives perceive such changes, stating, “They often feel that we can’t reform society aimlessly, even if it means sidelining democracy to do so.”

Maher then listed various issues he believes are damaging the Democratic Party’s image among average Americans.

“Transporting children based on self-diagnosis, without age limits or parental notifications, and unrestricted approval of social contagion. They’ve embraced a broad interpretation of asylum.”

He emphasized other points like dismissing natural immunity, labeling “whiteness” as toxic, and controversial views on prison policies. “We can’t just accept these things.”

Another important issue he raised was the tendency for some on the left to avoid discussing contentious subjects with Republicans, often dismissing those who do as “bad, stupid, and lamentable.”

Maher insisted, “You can’t just throw around statements like ‘mathematics is racist’ or ‘healthy at any weight’ and expect meaningful dialogue. If boys play against girls’ teams, somehow it ends in a tie.”

He even found humor in the “smugness” of Democrats defending absurd ideas, arguing that these aren’t winning strategies for the party.

Wrapping up his monologue, Maher cautioned that if liberals persist with radical progressive policies, they might jeopardize their power positions.

“Here’s my promise to every liberal out there: Yes, Democrats can win every election from now into perpetuity, but those currently in power won’t relinquish it if they view you as radicals,” he stressed.
