In a heartbreaking incident, three members of the Michigan family featured on TLC’s “Meet the Putmans” lost their lives in a car accident on Friday night.
Bill “Daddy” Putman, his wife Barb, referred to as “Neeney,” and their stepdaughter Megan were killed when a semi-truck ran a stop sign and crashed into their Jeep at a rural intersection near Cass City, not far from Detroit, according to reports from the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office.
The family shared a somber message requesting prayers, stating, “We lost our daddy, Neeney, and Aunt Megan. They went home with the Lord.”
Meanwhile, Megan’s husband Blake and their three children—Lulu, Arena, and Noah—remain hospitalized after the crash.
The family asked for continued prayers for them, noting the need for healing and strength.
Authorities reported that Bill, Barb, and Megan were pronounced dead at the scene, while five other individuals were transported to hospitals via helicopter.
The driver of the semi-truck and his female passenger suffered minor injuries and were also treated at a hospital.
In their statement, the family expressed strong faith, saying, “Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. Even in this time of heartbreak, we find solace in knowing that God is in control.”
Touching on her lost husband, Barb had praised Bill in a heartfelt birthday post just three days prior to the tragedy, expressing gratitude for the joy he brought into her life.
The Michigan family had appeared on “Meet the Putmans,” which aired for a single season in 2017. Though the show didn’t continue, they revived their story on YouTube in 2021 with “The Growing Putman.”
Both series showcased a unique family dynamic, highlighting three generations living in the same large home, which in 2017 housed 25 people, including adults who lived with their parents under one financial roof.
As of 2025, family updates suggest that 10 adults and around 20 children are cohabiting together.
