Jimmy Kimmel recently faced a brief suspension from ABC following some controversial comments he made about Charlie Kirk. This incident arose after Kirk engaged in a debate regarding free speech on the left. However, Megyn Kelly isn’t buying into the situation.
“I might be in the minority, but I completely agree with what Brendan Kerr did last week,” Kelly stated during a segment.
“They need to understand our pain. It’s ironic how, when they are in control, they always seem to flip the narrative and then proclaim, ‘these are our principles.’”
Kelly further commented that people on the left are currently reacting strongly against issues like censorship and government interference in free speech.
“You and I, we aren’t swaying from our principles. We despise the law. We oppose government censorship. Hate speech is not an issue; it’s legal under the Constitution. That’s essentially the reason for the First Amendment,” she added.
“But it’s the left that strays from these principles, not us. The real question now is, how can we steer the country back to where it was, before this shift to the left.”
Regarding Kimmel, though he wasn’t fired, she believes a warning was warranted.
“It’s a bit ridiculous that he’s putting on this act. He celebrated the downfall of conservatives and now, after a few days off, he expects sympathy?” Kelly remarked.
She remembered a time when Kimmel was criticized by NBC for asking questions about Blackface Halloween costumes, and how, during his past, he wouldn’t have imagined a world where honoring icons like Diana Ross or Michael Jordan became controversial. “Things have changed since then,” she reflected.
“Kimmel, at that time, mocked the situation, claiming it was nonsense. And now, seeing him twist in the wind—why should we feel sorry for him? He was always quick to cancel those who didn’t share his views,” she concluded, noting that perhaps he’s finally experiencing the backlash he once dished out.
