Josh Hartnett Injured in Vehicle Collision in Canada

Josh Hartnett was hospitalized in Canada following an accident involving a patrol vehicle. As confirmed in a statement from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), the 47-year-old actor was struck while riding in an SUV in St. John’s, Newfoundland, the provincial capital.

The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. at the intersection of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles. Both Hartnett and the 59-year-old male driver of the SUV were taken to the hospital with injuries that seem to be minor. The officer involved was also checked out at the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The RNC is actively looking into the collision, asking for witnesses and any available video footage from the scene.

Representatives for Hartnett confirmed the news to Fox News Digital. He is currently in Canada working on an untitled Netflix project about fishermen who are trying to safeguard their communities against increasingly aggressive sea creatures.

Hartnett, known for his roles in films like “Pearl Harbor” and “Black Hawk Down,” had stepped back from Hollywood for a while. His decision to leave was a personal one, influenced by experiences such as having unwanted visitors at his home. He recounted a particularly unsettling incident where a man appeared at one of his premieres claiming to be his father, which led him to reevaluate his life choices.

While he has taken part in various projects since then, his noticeable return to the big screen came with his role in Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed film “Oppenheimer” in 2023. Reflecting on his return to acting, Hartnett noted that his priorities have shifted now that he has children. He shared that being home with family means he has less time to dwell on his acting roles.

Hartnett and his wife, Tamsin Egerton, have four children, but they have chosen to keep their kids’ names and genders private.

In discussing the challenges of playing darker roles, such as in “Black Mirror,” he revealed that family and pets significantly help him detach from his characters. He emphasized the importance of a stable personal life, stating that a supportive community is essential for artistic expression.
