Franklin Graham’s Event in Brussels Draws Over 14,000 Attendees
Evangelist Franklin Graham, who heads the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and Samaritan Wallets, recently shared his message with more than 14,000 people in Brussels, Belgium.
BGEA took to social media to express their excitement, stating, “We praise hundreds of lives forever changed as people of all ages responded to the gospel!” after the event.
Held in the nation’s heart—a place historically divided by language and culture—over 14,000 Belgians from Antwerp to Waterloo gathered to celebrate a festival of hope with Graham.
The venue, which accommodates 8,965, expanded to include an additional 5,000 seats in nearby overflow areas to accommodate the large crowd.
As the son of renowned evangelist Billy Graham, Franklin shared the event online, emphasizing a message centered on God’s love and forgiveness. He noted, “God loves you, and he wants to forgive you. He wants to cleanse you. He wants to free you. But the only way is to go through the cross. You must come to him through faith in his son, Jesus Christ.”
For attendees, Graham’s message was translated into seven languages, including French, Flemish, Slovak, Spanish, Portuguese, and two forms of sign language.
David Vandepatt, President of the Belgian Congress of Evangelical and Protestant Churches, remarked that the turnout was unexpected and highlighted the collaboration between Dutch and French churches. He described the event as a significant moment for evangelical churches in Belgium, stating, “It’s not about religion. It’s not about evangelicalism. It’s about Jesus Christ.”
This gathering is sure to be remembered for its impact, emphasizing unity and hope among attendees. It’s a testament to the ways faith can bring people together, even amidst longstanding divisions.
