Alabama Woman Shoots Intruder During Burglary Attempt
An Alabama woman shot and killed a man she believed was attempting to burglarize her home in Decatur on Sunday night, according to reports. The police dispatch noted that the woman stated her house was being robbed, and there were audible screams coming from the background.
State records indicate that the man, 46-year-old Narad Brinkley, had a lengthy criminal history, including charges of first-degree robbery and drug offenses.
In a call received by dispatch, the woman mentioned that a Black male was armed and had entered her home. The caller later reported that she shot him, and he was found lying on the ground when police arrived.
It was noted that the woman shot Brinkley in the chest, and he was “not breathing” when the officers responded. The Morgan County Coroner confirmed that Brinkley died at the scene.
This incident is currently under investigation, and while the woman has cooperated with law enforcement, there have been no charges filed against her at this time. The case will be reviewed by the Morgan County District Attorney’s Office for further action.
Brinkley had multiple prior convictions and served time for various offenses, including robbery and drug possession, according to records. Most recently, he was sentenced to five months for a 2023 conviction related to drug and robbery charges.
