Chile Removes Popular Kids’ Menu Items Amid Backlash
In September, members of the Reddit community R/Chilis expressed their concerns after photos emerged that seemingly showcased a new menu for the casual dining chain. This included the removal of some kid favorites like children’s pepperoni pizza, cheese quesadillas, and mini desserts.
The response from customers has been overwhelmingly negative. One Reddit user voiced their frustration, saying, “I don’t have any more kids’ quesadillas! That’s my daughter’s favorite! Can they at least bring back the chocolate shake? I’m really craving it.” Another echoed similar sentiments, mentioning, “Now they’re taking off their quesadillas, so they took everything my son eats from the menu. First, it was the orange, then corn, and now this.”
For some, the mini dessert was a point of contention. A user noted, “I’m not letting my child melt completely; it’s just too much.” They found the small portion size ideal to share. Another customer lamented, “No more mini melting? My daughter is devastated. She loved having ‘her’ desserts.” Confusion also arose regarding the decision to eliminate quesadillas, with one user questioning the rationale: “It’s literally two tortillas baked with cheese. They don’t even fry them.”
A Chilean spokesman acknowledged the changes, stating, “As part of our ongoing simplification efforts, we are removing Mini Molten in favor of the full-size portion, and we are also eliminating children’s pepperoni pizza and kids’ cheese quesadillas.” They did mention, however, that kids’ cheese pizza would still be available.
Furthermore, the chain is set to introduce New Southwestern Queso starting October 7. This dish will replace some of the previous offerings, combining American and cheddar cheese with flavors from fire-roasted chili, onion, and lime. Soon, Chilean patrons will be able to enjoy this updated item while still being limited to one free portion from October 7 to October 21.
