Teddi Mellencamp recently shared some hopeful news regarding her stage 4 cancer, stating it has “disappeared.” This revelation came during an episode of the “Two Ts of the Pod” podcast.
She mentioned having undergone immunotherapy the previous day and that scans showed no detectable cancer at this time. “I was completely shocked when they told me. I honestly felt paralyzed,” she expressed in her conversation with Dolores Catania. Though she’s feeling relief, she noted that immunotherapy still leaves her feeling ill on some days.
While Mellencamp feels optimistic, she clarified that she isn’t in remission yet. “I’m not considered in remission or anything like that,” she said. She explained that the doctors suggested it might take a year or longer before reaching remission, but this news felt significant.
This positive update follows a period when Mellencamp had to pause her immunotherapy due to being unwell. “They do a lot of scans, and everything looks good; everything is shrinking… But immunotherapy can make me feel really awful,” she shared.
To build her strength back, she’s taking a break from the treatment, along with steroids to help her body cope with the process.
Mellencamp was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022. After enduring various treatments, she revealed in April 2025 that the cancer had progressed to stage 4, spreading to both her brain and lungs.
At that time, she recounted how doctors estimated a “50/50” chance of survival. “It’s one of those conversations where you just think, ‘How much time do I have?’ and then they throw out ’50/50.’ I told them, ‘I’m not going to buy a car that only drives 50/50?! I don’t want this!’” she recalled with a hint of disbelief.
