Cory Asbury Suggests Different Super Bowl Halftime Show Featuring Christian Artists

Proposal for a Family-Friendly Super Bowl Halftime Show

A prominent figure in Christian music is suggesting an alternative Super Bowl halftime show that would feature well-known Christian artists to provide more family-friendly entertainment. Corey Asbury, known for his songs like Reckless Love and Father’s House, shared his ideas on Instagram over the weekend, sparking interest from other musicians, including Forest Frank.

In his video, Asbury posed the question, “What if we had a family-friendly halftime show for the Super Bowl?” He pointed out that many have mixed feelings about the performances during halftime, saying, “Every year, everyone is crossed their arms about performers at halftime shows. And I get it. Nine out of ten, it’s awful. I see things I don’t want to see, I hear things I don’t want to hear, especially for the kids.”

The upcoming February Super Bowl halftime show is set to be headlined by Bad Bunny, a Latin rapper recognized for his provocative lyrics.

Asbury further suggested, “How about we throw another show at a different venue with the biggest artists in Christianity and praise the name of Jesus on a huge scale?” He mentioned that he has already discussed this with Frank, who is enthusiastic about participating.

Asbury’s plans for these alternative events will be detailed in subsequent posts, which will be live-streamed during the Super Bowl halftime, allowing families to enjoy Christian music before returning to the game for the second half.

He encouraged his followers, saying, “Who else would you like to see?” He continued, “My vision is this: Blow it into a giant event. Get a stadium. Get crazy. We can lift the name of Jesus while others are focused on money, fame, and things we don’t want to see.”

Frank also shared Asbury’s video on his social media, and both posts received positive feedback from various people in the Christian entertainment community, including notable figures like Candace Cameron Bure, Tauren Wells, and others.

Asbury concluded with an enthusiastic call to action, saying, “It’s time to get up!! Who’s in there?!”
