Misinterpretation on CNN Regarding ICE Arrests
A CNN panel mistakenly suggested on Saturday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had arrested a young child while being restrained with zip ties, citing a misleading TikTok video that has since been discredited.
Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin discussed a video that depicted an individual being handcuffed, which was inaccurately linked to an ICE arrest. Left-wing podcaster Van Rasan mentioned during “CNN Newsnight” that ICE has forcibly removed Black Americans from their homes.
“We’ve seen situations where Americans, including Black citizens, are taken from their homes. When discussing restraint practices, we ought to reflect on the historical context for Black individuals,” Rasan stated.
CNN’s graphic also noted an ICE operation in Chicago allegedly involved “children being restrained.” Following President Donald Trump’s inauguration, attacks on ICE agents have reportedly surged by 1,000%, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Additionally, Apple recently removed an app that allowed users to track the locations of ICE agents, amidst rising violence against the agency.
In a separate incident, two detainees at an ICE facility in Dallas were shot in September. FBI Director Kash Patel noted that the shooter had the phrase “anti-ICE” inscribed.
ICE, as outlined by the DHS, has arrested and deported individuals involved in severe criminal activities, including murder and child abuse.
CNN has not yet provided a response to inquiries from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
