Daycare owner taken into custody after her dogs attacked and killed a 2-year-old boy while she was napping.

A woman in Georgia has been arrested for operating an unlicensed daycare following the tragic death of a 2-year-old boy, who was killed by a pair of Rottweilers while he was napping. This incident happened on a Saturday afternoon.

Two-year-old Kaimir Jones was discovered dead in the backyard of Stacey Wheeler Cobb, 48, around 3:45 PM. The Valdosta Police Department stated that the boy slipped out of the house while Cobb had been sleeping for several hours and had accidentally unlocked the kennel door containing the large dogs.

Kaimir’s mother had entrusted Cobb with his care. On that day, he was her only child. Authorities noted that Cobb’s unlicensed daycare typically has up to ten children at a time.

Reportedly, Cobb told the police, “I thought the child was fine.”

Valdosta Police Department spokesperson Leslie Manahan expressed deep sympathy, stating, “This is a horrible and tragic event that should never occur. Because of the negligence of this individual, the mother has lost her child. There are no words that can ease their pain, but they are certainly in our thoughts during this unimaginably difficult time, and I’ll be thinking of the first responders as I process what happened.”

Cobb has been charged with two counts of murder and cruelty to a child.

Authorities confirmed that the Rottweilers involved in this incident have been taken by Lowndes County Animal Control, along with a third dog found at Cobb’s residence.

In a Gofundme post, Kaimir’s mother, Adrianna Jones, shared her experience, saying her “intuition” compelled her to check on her son after several hours of no communication from Cobb.

She described the scene as “heartbreaking” and “devastating,” stating, “I found a baby like this.” Jones also mentioned that Cobb had been “highly recommended.”
