Reasons for the Jets' early journey to London before playing the Broncos

The Jets headed to London on Monday, which feels like a quicker turnaround compared to my past experiences with international games.

They’re set to face the Broncos at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday.

Previously, under coach Robert Saleh, the team departed for England last Thursday and practiced there on Friday ahead of a game against the Vikings.

Aaron Glenn, the new head coach, mentioned his preference for arriving early to help players acclimate. “I always felt like when you go early, the guys were adjusting much faster,” he remarked. “That’s what I believe. It’s going to be a positive trip for us. We have one goal: to win the game. I’m eager for the week ahead.”

This marks Glenn’s first time in London as head coach, although he has been there before as a player and assistant coach with the Saints.

The Jets plan to train on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday while in London.

Players expressed hope that this trip would foster more team bonding.

“I think it’s like what training camp should be,” defensive tackle Harrison Phillips said. “The camps I’ve experienced weren’t about staying in budget dorms, but rather to bring the team closer together. We’re traveling together and it’s a compressed experience; that builds success.”

Unfortunately, the Jets defense didn’t fare well against the Cowboys on Sunday.

Is Glenn contemplating any changes in the lineup?

He’s been vocal about performance, stating, “I say this every week. You make your keep. We’re always assessing who gives us the best chance to win. That doesn’t mean we’ll make sweeping changes every week.”

CB Michael Carter II didn’t travel with the team due to being in concussion protocol.

Glenn indicated that Carter might rejoin the team later this week, depending on his recovery.

In other news, LB Kiko Mauigoa suffered a leg injury during the game against the Cowboys.

The Jets are facing challenges with injuries, as both Quincy Williams and Marcelino McCrary-Ball are out.

They signed WR/KR Isaiah Williams to the practice squad after he was let go post-fumble in last week’s loss to the Dolphins.

Moreover, the team announced that WR Allen Lazard did not travel to London for personal reasons but could potentially join the team later in the week.
