Jon Stewart refers to Chuck Schumer as a 'human flat tire' on 'The Daily Show'

Jon Stewart Takes Aim at Chuck Schumer’s Humor

On Monday, Jon Stewart, the host of “The Daily Show,” had some laughs at the expense of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer during a recent press conference regarding the ongoing government shutdown. Stewart’s critique compared Schumer to a “human flat tire,” highlighting the senator’s failed attempts at humor.

Schumer attempted to lighten the mood with a joke involving KFF, saying, “We’ve got new data from KFF today, but it’s not Kentucky Fried French fries.” He then laughed at himself, musing, “Whaaat, it would be Kentucky French fries?” Stewart quickly interjected, asking, “Who is the six-year-old watching C-Span right now?” He then quipped that Schumer’s humor is as flat as a tire, jokingly mimicking him, “Take a look at Klobuchar! Poor Klobuchar. It says, ‘Just don’t use an Indian accent in the restaurant. That’s all I’m asking.’”

In a segment following Schumer’s speech about protecting American healthcare—where he had notably emphasized his points with exaggerated hand gestures—Stewart couldn’t help but mock him. Taking a deep breath, he sarcastically commented, “Um, good,” while mimicking the senator’s movements. He suggested that if Schumer had simply stopped talking after his comments on healthcare, it might have been fine, but then he grilled the senator for his lack of comedic timing.

Stewart’s criticisms of Schumer aren’t new. Earlier this year, he urged Democrats to stop sidelining Schumer. During that time, Schumer’s response to President Trump’s tariffs was met with Stewart’s incredulity, particularly after the senator claimed it would affect the costs of beer and guacamole. Stewart humorously remarked, “Your response to the trade war can you just tell me that guacamole is made from avocados?” and displayed a can of beer alongside an avocado.

In other recent commentary, Stewart expressed his frustration that Democrats seem ineffective against Trump and Congressional Republicans. He compared the party to a stationary bike, saying, “I really worked so hard and didn’t go anywhere,” emphasizing their struggle to block Trump’s agenda after the 2024 election.

In this realm of political commentary, Stewart’s humorous yet pointed critiques resonate with many, illustrating the often absurd landscape of governmental collaborations and political humor.
