Backlash Against Netflix’s Content Choices
Christian evangelist Franklin Graham has expressed strong concerns over Netflix, arguing that the platform is enforcing “ungodly and dangerous policies on our children and grandchildren.” This statement follows ongoing criticism directed at Netflix for including LGBT+ themes in children’s programming.
Graham started off by referring to a report from Breitbart News, which highlighted a significant drop in Netflix’s stock last week, marking its worst decline since early April.
According to the report, “Netflix has faced challenges after opting to feature animated shows for young kids that showcase homosexuality, including scenes of same-sex kisses and a boy in a dress expressing his joy for his gay father.” There’s also an indication that the platform’s subscriber numbers have dipped since a specific creator criticized conservative figures.
He noted that Elon Musk is now vocal about these issues, particularly regarding a transgender character appearing in a cartoon aimed at seven-year-olds. Musk has suggested that parents should terminate their Netflix subscriptions, stating, “Please cancel Netflix for your child’s health,” which Graham seemed to endorse.
“This kind of content is pushing dangerous and ungodly ideas onto our children,” Graham warned, encouraging people to say no.
Netflix has recently been under scrutiny for seemingly promoting its radical LGBT+ narrative among children. For instance, its now-canceled series Dead End: Paranormal Park included a transgender plotline, while the show’s creators made derogatory remarks about a conservative figure who was killed recently.
Moreover, children’s programming on Netflix has not been without controversy. In Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, there was a scene featuring a lesbian kiss, sparking further discussions among subscribers about appropriateness for a children’s show.
Additionally, the series Ada Twist, Scientist included themes of same-sex marriage and same-sex kissing in one of its episodes, adding to the growing concerns.
Musk, among others, has been vocal about his advice for parents, urging them to reconsider their Netflix subscriptions for the sake of their children’s well-being.
In a passionate plea, he stated, “Please cancel Netflix for the health of your children. Please protect your children. Please cancel Netflix.”
