ICE Continues Arrests Amid Government Shutdown

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is continuing its operations to apprehend undocumented individuals with violent criminal backgrounds across the United States, even with the federal government in shutdown mode.

This week, as the shutdown persists due to a standoff between Democrats and the Trump administration, ICE agents conducted several arrests. These individuals include those who have faced serious charges, like sex crimes against children, manslaughter, and domestic violence.

“Our dedicated ICE law enforcement personnel will remain undeterred by the Democratic government shutdown. They are committed to removing the most dangerous criminals from our communities,” stated Tricia McLaughlin, the head of the Department of Homeland Security.

“Every day, our nation’s police officers put their lives on the line to apprehend criminal undocumented immigrants, even though they aren’t receiving pay, and incidents of violence against them have surged by over 1000%.” Recently, a DHS operation led to the arrest of an illegal immigrant with convictions for child sex crimes, assault, domestic violence, manslaughter, drug trafficking, and robbery. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we do not accept criminals in America.

Among those arrested was Jose Alberto Hernandez Alvarado, a Mexican undocumented immigrant found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Dallas County, Texas.

ICE also apprehended Kemar Hamilton, an undocumented immigrant from Jamaica, in the Bronx, New York, who has prior convictions for manslaughter and assault.

Walid Soulmia, an undocumented immigrant from Algeria, was arrested as well. Soulmia has a history of domestic violence involving a dangerous weapon and menacing charges in Cherokee County, Iowa.

Additionally, ICE agents took Hugo Martinez Jaimes, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, and William Sierra Galeano, an undocumented immigrant from Colombia, into custody. Martinez-Jaimes has been convicted of attempting to traffic cocaine in Columbus County, North Carolina, while Sierra-Galeano faced charges for attempted robbery in White Plains, New York.
