Florida State Seminoles football player Ethan Pritchard has been discharged from the hospital following a shooting incident in August. Pritchard, who had been at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, is now undergoing rehabilitation in Jacksonville to continue his recovery.
According to Florida State University, this significant milestone in his recovery was reached with the help of medical staff from multiple facilities. They noted the collaboration among various clinics and the university’s sports medicine staff in the demanding recovery process.
“Ethan is alert, responsive, and able to communicate,” read a statement expressing gratitude for the community’s support. The statement also requested ongoing prayers and support for both Ethan and his family as they navigate this journey.
Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos shared a video on Instagram showing teammates rallying around Pritchard as he left the hospital—a heartwarming moment for all involved.
Details of the Shooting
Pritchard, a freshman, was shot in the back of the head while driving in Havana, Florida, which is not far from Tallahassee. His father, Earl Pritchard, mentioned that Ethan was merely dropping off his sister when the gunshots rang out.
Charges have been filed against four individuals for attempted murder in connection with this incident.

Pritchard played high school football at Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida, gaining attention as a four-star recruit. He was ranked among the top linebackers in both the state and the nation.
