Lamar Jackson sidelined once more as Ravens trouble persists

Things are looking rough for the Baltimore Ravens.

Star quarterback Lamar Jackson is set to miss his second straight game because of a lingering hamstring injury. He also sat out during the Ravens’ tough 44-10 defeat against the Texans last week.

Cooper Rush, who stepped in for Jackson last week, will take the starting role again this Sunday.

Additionally, the team has ruled out superstar linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring) and fullback Pat Ricard (calf) for their Week 6 matchup.

After dropping to a disappointing 1-4, the Ravens are preparing to host the Rams, who have a 3-2 record, in their final game before a Week 7 break.

Jackson, 28, first got hurt in the Ravens’ 37-20 loss to the Chiefs in Week 4. In that game, he managed to throw for 147 yards on 14 completions, scoring one touchdown but also tossing an interception.

This will be Jackson’s second straight game on the sidelines due to the hamstring issue.

During his limited time on the field, Jackson also had six rushing attempts for 48 yards before leaving early.

In his first start in Baltimore, Rush completed 14 of 20 passes for 179 yards but unfortunately had three interceptions.

Last season, Rush stepped in for the Cowboys when Dak Prescott was injured, starting eight games and finishing with a 4-4 record. Across the 2024 season, he played 12 games, completing 187 of 308 passes for 1,844 yards, with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions.

After Friday’s practice absence, Jackson will get another week to recover. The Ravens have a bye following their game against the Rams, which gives him a shot to return by October 26.
