Strahinja Jokic, Nikola Jokic’s older brother, entered a guilty plea on Friday regarding charges related to an incident during a playoff game in April 2024.
He was charged with one count of trespassing and one count of disorderly conduct, ultimately receiving a sentence of one year of probation, as reported by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
This altercation took place during the Nuggets’ Game 2 victory over the Lakers and became sensational online as fans recognized the involvement of two of Jokic’s brothers.
Footage from the scene captured a verbal clash between the Jokic brothers and a fan, which escalated rapidly, resulting in Strahinja striking the man.
In police statements, Strahinja claimed he believed he was acting to protect a longtime acquaintance, insisting he had committed no wrongdoing.
Initially facing a charge of third-degree assault, he opted for a plea to a lesser charge as part of the settlement.
Strahinja has a history of legal issues in Denver; in 2019, he was arrested for an incident involving alleged strangulation of a woman at his residence.
Facing charges of second-degree assault, false imprisonment, and phone service interference, he ultimately pleaded guilty in 2020 to felony trespassing and misdemeanor obstruction.
Within the arena, the Jokic brothers have been involved in multiple disputes concerning Nikola’s on-court interactions.
Back in the 2021 season, they found themselves in a social media spat with Marcus and Markieff Morris following a contentious exchange between Nikola and Markieff. Additionally, during the same season, the brothers were spotted vocally supporting Nikola from the stands after a hard foul against him in the playoffs.
