Church Vandalized Ahead of Turning Point USA Event
A church in Alabama has been defaced with graffiti calling a speaker at an upcoming Turning Point USA event the “antichrist.” The vandalism occurred at Movement Church between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
According to a spokesperson from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the church was targeted just before a scheduled event on Thursday night.
The lead pastor of the church, Seth Adgate, along with his wife Lori, expressed their shock but not surprise at this act. “It’s disheartening,” said Lori. “I don’t really get what they’re trying to say. It would have been nice if they reached out to talk about it.”
The graffiti specifically mentioned the event’s keynote speaker, Brian Dawson, with messages stating, “Brian Dawson serves the Antichrist,” and “Beware of his lies.”
Eric Nelson, a church member and owner of a local pressure washing service, offered his assistance in cleaning up the damage. He remarked, “Attacking a place of love like this doesn’t help anything—it just strengthens our mission to serve the community.”
The Adgates mentioned that the vandalism was not recorded on surveillance cameras, prompting them to enhance security measures for the upcoming event. Lori further noted, “There’s definitely a rising hostility toward people who stand firm in their beliefs. Perhaps this situation can remind everyone that differing opinions don’t have to result in destruction.”
Sheriff Kevin Turner condemned the incident, stating, “Vandalism and intimidation have no place in our community. Every individual, regardless of their beliefs, should feel safe in their places of worship. We won’t tolerate this in Madison County, and we’re committed to holding those responsible accountable.”
