Rep. Crow Critiques GOP Government Funding Bill

During a recent appearance on CNN’s “The Situation Room,” Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.) expressed his concerns regarding the Republican government funding bill, labeling it anything but clean. He highlighted that many of the issues at hand stem from former President Donald Trump’s actions, which he believes have politicized the Department of Justice and negatively impacted healthcare for numerous Americans.

Crow remarked, “He talks about clean equipment and clean bills. I mean, has Mike Johnson really paid attention to what Donald Trump has been up to these last several months? They want everyone to overlook the fact that Trump is using the Department of Justice for his own benefit, targeting political adversaries, deploying troops within U.S. cities, and undermining healthcare for millions. And now, he’s framing this in terms of a clean bill? Give me a break.”

Co-host Pamela Brown probed further, asking, “Is this mainly about the ACA subsidies or is it more about Donald Trump and his actions?”

Crow replied, “It’s about everything. It’s about health care in America. I absolutely won’t support it. I can’t just give a blank check to this administration, which could double premiums for my constituents and completely cut coverage for countless people. This administration has ignored Congress repeatedly over the past months, redirecting funds meant for specific purposes and stating, ‘We’re using this money however we see fit.’ They’ve threatened to shut down agencies that Congress established, leaving us powerless. Why would any Congressman, who has vowed to uphold the Constitution and the law, act like everything’s fine? Given the context of this administration and the president’s actions?”

He concluded, “This government shutdown is a decision made by Donald Trump and Mike Johnson.”
