Pam Bondi has a lighthearted reaction to Amy Poehler's SNL spoof of her

Bondi Responds to Poehler’s SNL Parody

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi recently reacted to a humorous portrayal of her by actress Amy Poehler on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” During the show, which featured Poehler as the host, she stepped outside in the chilly weather to impersonate Bondi, imitating her during a Senate Judiciary Committee oversight hearing that took place the previous week.

Poehler quipped, “My name is Pam Bondi, and I’m not going to answer any of your questions, so I’m going to spell it with an ‘i.’ My time is valuable. The Department of Justice has many ongoing operations, and we are moving very quickly in multiple directions at once, like Kash Patel’s centerpiece.” It was a light-hearted jab, perhaps capturing the essence of political scrutiny.

In another sketch, Poehler was accompanied by former “SNL” star Tina Fey, who took on the role of Kristi Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security. Fey humorously remarked, “Yes, it’s me, Kristi Noem. I put an ‘i’ in my name because that’s what I think. And I’m the rarest type of person in Washington, D.C.: the brunette Donald Trump listens to.”

Despite the criticism directed at Bondi during the actual hearing, she appeared to take the parody in stride. On Sunday morning, Bondi even posted a playful tweet inviting Noem to recreate the photo from the skit in Chicago, tagging Poehler.

In a separate comment about the skit, Tricia McLaughlin, the Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, had a straightforward response: “SNL is absolutely right. The Democratic shutdown really needs to end!”

It’s interesting how “SNL” has frequently poked fun at President Donald Trump and his administration, which usually leads to some pushback from Trump himself. However, in the latest season premiere of the show, the president seemed to garner little attention, even though a cast member did a parody of him.

In remarks following the premiere, the White House press secretary, Abigail Jackson, dismissed the show, suggesting she had “more interesting things” to do than engage with it. She added, “To react to this, you have to waste time looking at it. And like the millions of Americans who no longer watch SNL, I have more interesting things to do — like watch paint dry.” It’s a striking contrast, showing how reactions to comedy can vary widely depending on where you stand.
