The Return of Hostages and Diplomatic Developments
On Monday’s episode of ABC’s “The View,” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin expressed relief over the safe return of Israeli hostages. She highlighted former President Donald Trump’s administration’s role in this significant event.
Griffin described the potential agreement as a “huge diplomatic achievement,” suggesting that it could bring a collective sign of relief worldwide. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg shared a clip celebrating the current peace efforts, urging everyone to hope for its continuation.
Reflecting on the events of October 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorists wreaked havoc, killing over 1,100 and abducting approximately 250 individuals, including children, Griffin emphasized the global impact of that day on the Jewish community.
She acknowledged the complexity of negotiations, saying, “Whether you like Trump or not, he may be the key player here.” Griffin credited individuals like Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for their involvement in the negotiations, even admitting her previous reluctance to engage with terrorists. “Sometimes, I guess you have to speak to the worst to find peace,” she noted, expressing her hope for lasting tranquility.
Griffin previously vowed to wear a MAGA hat if Trump succeeded in freeing the hostages, stating, “I promise to thank him publicly if that happens.”
Co-host Sarah Haines mentioned that the deal left Hamas significantly weakened, adding that it also facilitated the release of 2,000 Palestinians held by Israel amid the conflict. As of Monday, a ceasefire was in effect.
On the same day, President Trump spoke in Israel’s parliament, praising Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his efforts in supporting Israel and securing the safe return of hostages.
Trump hailed this moment as “a historic dawn for a new Middle East,” calling for the reconstruction of Gaza post-conflict.
Haines pointed out that although neither side received everything they desired, the most crucial outcome was the return of the hostages.
Co-host Sunny Hostin focused on the desire for peace without mentioning Trump directly, sharing her daily prayers for a resolved conflict that has deeply affected Gaza and drawn international scrutiny.
