Two brothers murder Lyft driver, take his car, and lead police on a dramatic chase.

Two brothers have been charged with the murder of a Lyft driver, igniting a chaotic police chase that spanned multiple states. This incident ended tragically for one of the brothers, who was hit and killed, while the other has been apprehended.

Tristan Bush, 26, and Ethan Bush, 23, are alleged by authorities from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office to have killed 62-year-old Lawana Lewis, a rideshare driver whose body was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in a ditch in Westlake, Louisiana, early on Friday.

In response, the sheriff’s office set up a tip line and issued an alert regarding Lewis’ missing vehicle.

Later that night, police were informed that her car had been located in a parking lot in the Houston area, just across the Louisiana-Texas border.

Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies chased after the stolen vehicle. The brothers attempted to drive off but ended up abandoning the car and fleeing on foot.

Ethan Bush didn’t fare well during the escape.

Authorities stated that a man was struck and killed while trying to cross a busy road amid the chaos.

Meanwhile, Tristan Bush was captured shortly after he sought refuge in a residential area and was taken into custody.

The brother is currently awaiting extradition to Calcasieu Parish to face second-degree murder charges in Lewis’ death. His bond is set at a staggering $2.5 million.

The investigation is still active, and the sheriff’s office mentioned that further charges might arise.

Tristan has a history of run-ins with the law, having been arrested at least twice in Louisiana. In contrast, Ethan had no known criminal record according to available documents.

In 2022, Tristan faced charges for resisting a police officer, with similar charges occurring again in 2023, alongside resisting with force or violence.

Lewis’ family and friends, grappling with their loss, are eager to remember her for the person she was rather than the “senseless criminal act” that led to her untimely death.

They expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received during this hard time, stating, “Lawana’s life was taken far too soon, but her compassion and light will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her,” through a GoFundMe campaign.
