Simone Biles Celebrates Bears’ Dramatic Win
American gymnast Simone Biles thoroughly enjoyed the Chicago Bears’ nail-biting comeback victory over the Washington Commanders, clinching the game with a last-minute field goal to win 25-24 at Northwest Stadium on Monday night.
Biles, who is 28 and married to Bears safety Jonathan Owens, shared her excitement on social media. She recorded her reaction to kicker Jake Moody’s winning kick while in a suite with Tremaine Edmunds’ fiancée. The joyous moment was captured as both men leaped in celebration when the ball sailed through the uprights. Biles captioned a post on her Instagram Story with a simple “What. a. game.”
The Bears trailed by eight points in the fourth quarter but mounted a comeback thanks in part to running back D’Andre Swift and key turnovers. Just after the Commanders took a 24-16 lead, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams found Swift on the sideline, who evaded a defender and sprinted for a 55-yard touchdown, narrowing the score to 24-22.
Though the Bears attempted a two-point conversion to tie the game, they were unsuccessful, still trailing as the clock ticked down to the final ten minutes. Following that touchdown, the Commanders punted, giving the Bears another chance, but a quick three-and-out allowed Washington to regain possession.
With the game on the line, the Bears appeared to be making headway down the field. They faced a crucial third-and-13 to keep their hopes alive at around midfield with four minutes remaining. However, Commanders quarterback Jaden Daniels fumbled a snap, allowing the Bears to recover. Swift then rushed for 32 yards, setting up Moody for a 38-yard game-winning field goal just as time expired.
Swift’s performance was impressive; he managed 14 carries for 108 yards, along with two catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. Throughout the game, Biles shared snapshots of herself in the suite and fireworks illuminating the sky during the national anthem. Owens contributed defensively with three tackles. Looking ahead, Biles will undoubtedly be cheering for her husband when the Bears (3-2) face off against the New Orleans Saints (1-5) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
