Kim Kardashian’s Latest Skims Launch Sparks Controversy

Kim Kardashian has always pushed boundaries, but her newest Skims product might be stepping a bit too far. On Tuesday morning, Skims revealed its entry into the merkin market with a collection called “The Ultimate Bush.”

This line offers minimal thongs with various hair textures and shades attached. The accompanying campaign video, styled like a retro 1970s game show titled “Does the Carpet Match the Drapes,” features the tagline, “With our bold new faux hair panties, your carpet can be any color.”

The video features a host who prompts a studio audience to guess if the models’ “hair down there” matches their actual hair color. While intended as a parody, it seems to many to cross a line regarding sensitivity.

Upon its Instagram release, the video quickly gathered nearly 500 comments, with most expressing disapproval. Reactions included cries for help, like one follower stating, “Call 911,” while another jokingly questioned if it was an April Fool’s prank.

Comments like, “Who asked for this?” and “@kimkardashian are you okay?” echoed the mixed sentiments, with one user admitting, “I can’t stop watching it and I’m demanding a refund for something I didn’t pay for.”

This isn’t the first time Kardashian’s products have stirred controversy. While many of her items, like the nipple bra, have been well-received, they’ve also prompted their fair share of critiques. Even her facial wraps, although initially baffling, gained traction once they hit mainstream media.

Kardashian had hinted at this release back in December, showcasing a faux fur bikini that teased the merkin concept. Now, it seems she has finally taken the plunge into this edgy territory.
