Trump and Patel Report Over 28,000 Violent Crime Arrests, President Focuses on San Francisco and Chicago

Trump and Patel Discuss FBI’s Crime Crackdown

On Wednesday, President Trump and FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized the agency’s efforts to address violent crime since taking office, urging law enforcement leaders to pay attention to the challenges in San Francisco.

During a press conference held in the Oval Office, Trump, Patel, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche provided updates on their administration’s accomplishments in fighting crime.

The FBI has projected an arrest of 28,859 criminals by 2025, which is more than twice the figure of 15,388 violent criminal arrests recorded in 2024, the last full year under the Biden administration, according to a graph released by the FBI.

Trump mentioned that the FBI has dismantled or disrupted over 170 organized crime groups, handled 1,600 of the most violent gangs, confiscated over 6,000 illegal firearms, and apprehended four individuals on the Most Wanted List, including two of the highest-profile fugitives.

Moreover, the President praised Operation Summer Heat, a nationwide initiative to tackle crime, which ran from June 24, 2025, to September 20, 2025.

Trump noted, “We were in a lot of cities that people didn’t know about. We kept it a little quiet, but it had a big impact.” He added that, in recent months, FBI offices across all 50 states prioritized fighting violent crime, leading to the capture of thousands of dangerous criminals.

Operation Summer Heat resulted in the arrests of 8,629 violent offenders, the seizure of 2,281 firearms, and the collection of significant quantities of illicit drugs, including 421 kilograms of fentanyl and 44,569 kilograms of cocaine. Patel stated that this amount of fentanyl could potentially harm around 55 million Americans. The operation also led to 2,081 prosecutions.

After mentioning an indictment, Patel remarked, “For a four-year presidential term, that’s substantial. You achieved it in seven months by appointing effective police officers and collaborating with the right people at the Department of Justice.”

Additionally, Trump indicated he was monitoring the situation in San Francisco and mentioned receiving requests for federal aid from local officials. “I’m more than willing to encourage government officials to look into what’s happening in San Francisco,” he commented in front of Patel, Bondi, and Blanche.

“Ten to fifteen years ago, it was one of our best cities. Now, it’s struggling, but there’s strong support for us in San Francisco. I would likely recommend addressing it in the next phase since there’s solid backing.”

Trump also mentioned a planned federal surge in Chicago, noting that Patel and the agency had made significant preliminary efforts there. “Five months back, we started making progress in Chicago, reducing crime somewhat, but that was just groundwork for dealing with the surge,” he explained.
