Trump’s Ambitious Memorial Project
Former President Donald Trump is bringing his distinctive touch to the nation’s capital. A new monument, funded privately, is set to commemorate the country’s 250th anniversary next year. This project is part of a series of renovations and designs initiated by Trump since his return to the state.
In a recent Oval Office appearance, he showcased a model of the proposed monument, which is designed to mirror Paris’ Arc de Triomphe. It aims to welcome visitors crossing the Memorial Bridge from Arlington National Cemetery into the heart of Washington, D.C.
During a fundraising dinner, Trump shared that he was shown three models of different sizes for the arch—small, medium, and large—with a clear preference for the largest one. He mentioned that this arch would serve as a grand entry point to the capital.
While the timeline for construction remains uncertain, Trump noted that funding will likely come from leftover resources from the White House’s ballroom project. However, the White House has yet to provide further comments on the matter.
Construction is also underway for a new 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the White House, which can accommodate around 650 guests. This vast addition is expected to maintain the classic design elements of the White House.
The cost of the ballroom is projected at $200 million, funded by Trump and private donors. In addition to the ballroom, Trump has introduced several updates around the White House, like gold accents in the Oval Office and Cabinet rooms, along with adding cobblestones to the Rose Garden and installing two large flagpoles.
