DOJ brings initial terrorism charges against supposed 'Antifa Cell' following ICE incident: 'Grab the rifles'

Justice Department Files First Charges Against Antifa as a Terrorist Group

The Justice Department, during President Trump’s administration, has reportedly taken a significant step by formally charging Antifa as a terrorist organization.

In early July, individuals associated with Antifa were reportedly linked to a violent confrontation outside the Prairieland Detention Center, which is an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas.

Documents submitted to the court revealed more details about this alleged Antifa group. According to the Justice Department, a North Texas Antifa Cell consisting of at least 11 members, clad in black and wearing masks, attacked the detention center on July 4, 2025. Some members were said to be equipped with bulletproof vests and firearms.

Documents obtained state that these individuals “launched fireworks at the facility and destroyed vehicles and security cabins.” Furthermore, the Department of Homeland Security had notified local law enforcement as the group was beginning to issue alarming commands.

One of the Antifa members reportedly shouted, “Get the rifle!” while police were attempting to communicate with a “person in black.” This led to a shooting where an officer was hit in the neck area, though he managed to respond despite his injury.

According to the documents, the assailant continued firing until the rifle appeared to malfunction, prompting the suspects to flee. Police later discovered a flag stating: “Resist fascism. Fight the oligarchy.”

Prosecutors described the event as an “ambush” and noted it seemed like a “coordinated attack.” Most of the suspected members were reportedly arrested shortly after the incident, with Zachary Ebbets and Cameron Arnold, also known as Autumn Hill, named in the documentation as believed members of Antifa.

The Justice Department contends that the group adheres to a “revolutionary anarchist or self-governing Marxist ideology,” aimed at “overthrowing the United States government.”

According to the documents, “Antifa supporters have increasingly targeted personnel and facilities associated with DHS Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
