In a harrowing incident in Texas, dramatic video captured a police officer rescuing a woman from a burning car, a scene that Officer Tyler Ingram described as reminiscent of a movie.
Body camera footage reveals the female driver, visibly distressed and in pain, as Ingram races to her vehicle, which is rapidly being consumed by flames on the highway. In a tense moment, he attempts to open the car door, struggling against the rising heat and smoke. When he asks if she can still move her legs, she softly replies, “It just hurts.”
After a few agonizing seconds, Ingram managed to pry open the door, grasp her arm, and pull her to safety. As they moved away, it was evident that the woman had suffered facial injuries while her vehicle became fully engulfed in fire.
Ingram later remarked, “We handle a lot of intense situations, but this felt more like something you see in a movie,” during an interview.
Just after midnight on September 30, Ingram, while monitoring traffic on Interstate 30, heard a crash and immediately rushed to assist. He recalled hearing a woman’s screams as he approached and saw flames creeping into the car.
“I reached the driver’s side and struggled for a moment to locate the door handle, which was bent,” he explained. “I managed to force it open further and then pulled her out.”
Once at a safer distance, Ingram applied a tourniquet to the woman’s leg injury. Miraculously, she is expected to recover fully, although she faces charges for driving under the influence.
The Mesquite Police emphasized the dangers of impaired driving, stating, “One poor decision can lead to disaster in no time.” They expressed relief that no other individuals were harmed and urged the public to plan ahead and seek alternative transport options.
