Strange Praise for New York Mayoral Candidate

Far-left mayoral hopeful Zoran Mamdani has recently drawn some unusual acclaim from a liberal actor known for his critiques of Christianity.

John Fugelsang, during a CNN discussion, claimed that the policies espoused by socialists like Mamdani align more closely with the teachings of Jesus than those of other candidates, likening Mamdani to Martin Luther King Jr.

“This guy named Mamdani isn’t afraid to take on Trump. He’s kind of attractive and really seems popular,” Fugelsang proclaimed.

On Thursday, Mamdani was embroiled in a heated debate against former New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent, and anti-crime activist Curtis Sliwa, as they discussed their respective proposals during a CNN panel.

“Mr. Mamdani claims he wants to control the means of production,” panelist Brad Todd disagreed sharply.

“Mamdani’s policies are very aligned with the actual teachings of Jesus!” Fugelsang retorted.

“Did he really say that? Did he actually say he’d take over the means of production? Because he did!” Todd countered.

Fugelsang attempted to lighten the mood, joking, “And the means of production? In Manhattan? What’s falafel?”

“They’re democratic socialists—those aren’t the same! They did this to MLK too!” he added. “Mamdani stands up to Trump, he’s really charismatic, and youth voter turnout is at a record high…”

“That’s just something you keep telling yourself,” Todd replied.

“In the mayoral primary! That’s the figure. I’m not fabricating this!” Fugelsang insisted.

Video clips of this exchange were posted on social media.

During the debate, Mamdani faced significant criticism from Cuomo and Sliwa regarding his past endorsements of socialist policies, though he aimed to present a more moderate image. A lot of what he proposes seems to rely heavily on increased spending and tax hikes.

Fugelsang has used his platform over the years to critique Christians, stating, “The only ‘war against Christianity’ is one waged by so-called Christians who believe Jesus harbors hatred towards people like them,” which he wrote in 2015.
