Myra Flores on Hispanic Support for Trump
Myra Flores, a candidate for Texas’ 34th Congressional District, recently discussed the Hispanic community’s views on socialism and their support for President Trump during an interview.
Host Matthew Boyle highlighted the upcoming election in New York City, which could result in a socialist mayor, mentioning prominent figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders as key voices in the Democratic Party.
“The contrast is striking,” he remarked. “I believe that the Hispanic community, particularly in South Texas, recognizes the dangers of socialism more than anyone else. They understand how detrimental it can be for our country,” he added.
Flores shared her experiences meeting with Spanish-speaking constituents, asking them about their voting preferences regarding President Trump.
“They all voted for him. When I asked who still supports him, every hand went up. There’s a common narrative among some Democrats that Hispanics no longer back Trump, but that’s simply untrue,” she explained.
She expressed satisfaction with Trump’s actions regarding border issues, noting the community’s awareness of cartel dangers due to family ties in Mexico. “We know the risks of illegal immigration because many involved have criminal histories. We don’t want that in our neighborhoods,” she stated while discussing the spread of misinformation.
Flores emphasized the community’s desire for a robust economy, saying, “We want to provide for our families and pay our bills. While we appreciate President Trump’s efforts, challenges from the Biden administration persist. There’s a lot of false information circulating on these networks,” she noted, mentioning her attempts to engage with Spanish-language outlets like Univision and Telemundo.
She highlighted the necessity of having government representatives willing to “counteract” misleading narratives on Spanish networks to secure ongoing support as they approach the 2026 elections.
