Nick Saban's wife discusses potential chance at Penn State

Nick Saban’s Coaching Future Uncertain

Terry Saban, the wife of former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban, has downplayed any rumors about her husband potentially returning to coaching. During a segment on ESPN’s “College Gameday,” host Pat McAfee mentioned that Saban’s name has surfaced in discussions regarding the head coach position at Penn State.

In a light-hearted exchange, McAfee asked Terry if she’d pay Nick $50 million to come back to coaching. She replied, “If Nick wants to go back to coaching, I have no doubt he can win his eighth national championship. But we’re having so much fun that we don’t want to take that opportunity away from all of our baby coaches, you know?” She winked, adding, “I haven’t gotten your number yet.”

Nick seemed to resonate with her thoughts, as he humorously remarked, “Mrs. Always Right spoke.”

Since stepping down as head coach before the 2024 season, Nick has taken on a role in “College GameDay,” sharing his insights on various significant topics within the sport. His position was filled by Karen DeBoer at Alabama.

The urgency around coaching changes has risen for Penn State, especially after they let go of James Franklin following a disappointing loss to Northwestern. Right now, Terry Smith has stepped in as interim head coach for the Nittany Lions, who recently lost a close game to Iowa. The coaching carousel continues to spin, and the intrigue around Saban’s next steps remains alive, albeit uncertain.
