On Sunday Night Football, two of the NFL’s top two-way running backs will be front and center when the Atlanta Falcons face off against the San Francisco 49ers.
Bijan Robinson from the Falcons is currently leading the league in scrimmage yards, amassing 822, making him sixth on the all-time list for such a start through five games. If he adds 178 yards in tonight’s game, he’ll be the first player to reach 1,000 scrimmage yards in six games since Marshall Faulk did it back in 2000.
Meanwhile, Christian McCaffrey, Robinson’s training partner and a member of the 49ers, trails in total yards but leads all running backs with an impressive 444 receiving yards.
Injuries have affected the 49ers, but quarterback Brock Purdy has returned to limited practice, although backup Mac Jones will be starting for the third week in a row. Additionally, tight end George Kittle’s return is expected to provide a significant boost for the team.
