Tragic Plane Crash Claims Lives of Pilot and Daughters in Montana

A tragic incident occurred in Montana where a pilot from Alabama, Mark Anderson, and his two daughters, Laney and Ellie, lost their lives when their aircraft crashed. The Powell County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a possible plane crash on Friday afternoon, and the wreckage was located the following morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, the aircraft was found in a remote, wooded area of Young’s Creek, located in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, northeast of Seeley Lake. Unfortunately, all three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

Monte Sano Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama, had posted about the family’s disappearance on Facebook prior to the recovery of their bodies.

In a previous post, the church mentioned, “Mark is an experienced pilot, and we are hopeful that he landed safely in a remote location.” They shared that the family was heading to Polson, Montana.

Mark was reported to be 62 years old, while his daughters were 22 and 17, respectively. The event has understandably shaken their community.

Sanders Aviation also confirmed on social media that Rainey, one of its certified flight instructors, was on a family vacation and was part of this heartbreaking incident. They shared details of the crash, stating that Laney tragically passed away when the twin-engine plane suffered engine failure shortly before reaching its destination in the wilderness.

The investigation into the crash has since been handed over to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. However, both agencies noted they are currently unable to respond to media inquiries due to the government shutdown.
