JD Vance visits Israel to support the delicate cease-fire in Gaza

Vice President J.D. Vance’s Visit to Israel

Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife, Usha, landed in Israel on Tuesday for urgent discussions aimed at reinforcing the delicate ceasefire deal in Gaza.

The couple arrived at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport and was set to engage in talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu along with other officials. Interestingly, Mr. Vance didn’t make any public comments upon his arrival.

After meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and others, he had discussions with White House Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Vance is slated to stay in the region until Thursday. During his time there, he intends to connect with families of hostages whose remains have yet to be returned.

The discussions come as the U.S. works to stabilize the initial phase of the ceasefire agreement, trying to push both Israel and Hamas for more significant concessions.

Since the ceasefire was formalized on October 10, both nations have accused each other of breaches but maintain a commitment to adhere to the agreement.

President Trump has emphasized the necessity of the 20-point plan he negotiated, highlighting its importance for a lasting peace.

A senior Israeli official noted that the aim of Vance’s visit was to facilitate the transition to the second phase of negotiations regarding Gaza.

Currently, Israel is waiting for Hamas to return the remains of 15 hostages, with thirteen already handed over since the onset of the ceasefire.

On the same day, Israel reported returning the bodies of 15 more Palestinians, according to officials.
