Sanders Criticizes Trump Administration Over Gaza Peace Deal

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has voiced strong criticism of the Trump administration’s handling of the Gaza peace deal, claiming that the negative impacts significantly overshadow any progress made recently.

During a recent interview, Sanders stated that President Trump is perpetuating policies initiated during the Biden administration, which have resulted in approximately 160,000 injuries and around 65,000 deaths among Palestinians, with a majority being women, children, and the elderly.

“That’s about 10 percent of Gaza’s population affected. Just days ago, people were quite literally starving because of the Israeli blockade on humanitarian aid,” Sanders noted on the “modern wisdom” podcast.

He further commented, “No one who was involved in the Nobel Peace Prize process deserves it, including Trump.”

The complete interview is set to air on Thursday, where Sanders will elaborate on his critiques regarding U.S. actions over the past two years of conflict between Israel and Hamas.

“I’m really concerned about trust issues. This is the reality. Under both the Biden and Trump administrations, American taxpayers have contributed over $20 billion in military assistance to Prime Minister Netanyahu and his extreme policies,” he told host Chris Williamson.

Earlier this month, the first phase of Trump’s peace plan was implemented with both parties agreeing to Hamas releasing hostages, both living and deceased, in exchange for the freedom of 2,000 Palestinian detainees.

Additionally, members of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have pulled back to certain front lines to help de-escalate the situation. Still, Sanders expressed worry about the financial resources allocated to the conflict, especially after condemning Israel’s actions of genocide last September.

“We need to reassess our foreign policy to ensure that American taxpayers aren’t positioned to back a brutal regime like what we’re seeing in Israel with Prime Minister Netanyahu,” Sanders emphasized.

Both President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have suggested that Trump’s involvement deserves recognition via a Nobel Peace Prize. In 2025, the award went to Maria Colina Machado from Venezuela.

In the aftermath of this announcement, Hamas continued to harm innocent individuals, threatening any chance for lasting stability in the region.

Last week, Trump stated, “If Hamas keeps killing people in Gaza, which isn’t part of the deal, we will have no choice but to intervene and take action against them. Thank you for your attention!”
