Tucker Carlson criticized for promoting the conspiracy theory that COVID was created to protect Jews

Commentators are criticizing Tucker Carlson for promoting a conspiracy theory suggesting that the origins of COVID-19 were manipulated to ensure Jewish immunity. During a recent episode of “The Tucker Carlson Show,” the host touched upon dubious claims made by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who argued that the virus could be “tailored” to negatively impact specific groups.

This theory has been widely condemned by Jewish organizations, with initial reports coming from the Post.

Andrew Huff, a guest on Carlson’s show who is also an author and researcher, supported this notion by asserting that there is scientific evidence that different Jewish lineages might experience varying effects from the virus. Carlson explained that Huff was referencing “Sephardic/Ashkenazi” Jews.

Some right-leaning voices have joined the chorus of criticism against Carlson for indulging in conspiracy theories, including Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who made a sarcastic remark on X about Jews operating labs in China.

Cruz quipped, “Wait, Jews were running the Wuhan Virus Institute?? Who knew?” with a mocking emoji added.

A writer from RedState.com, known as Bonchy, dismissed those who still promote the idea of Jews creating the virus as “clowns.” He commented, “Yes, it was the Joes who created Covid-19, not the Chinese in China as we all know,” asserting that the disease originated from a Chinese-controlled lab.

This isn’t the first time Carlson has faced accusations of anti-Semitism. He was previously criticized by Jewish organizations and Israeli media for supporting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories related to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Right-wing commentator Allyn Wexler remarked on X that historical precedents exist for blaming Jews in crises, referencing the Black Death and the ensuing atrocities against Jewish communities. He suggested that Carlson is merely repeating centuries-old harmful narratives.

Eir Jacoby, a former University of Pennsylvania student who litigated against his alma mater over anti-Semitism issues, expressed frustration, stating that while the Chinese Communist Party is to blame for COVID-19, Carlson has misdirected the focus onto Jews.

Reports regarding the fallout from Carlson’s comments initially surfaced through Mediaite.
