Controversy Surrounds Jen Psaki’s Comments on J.D. Vance
MSNBC host Jen Psaki faced backlash on Tuesday for her “disgusting” remarks implying that Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President J.D. Vance, might be fearful of her husband.
While discussing the situation on the “I’ve Had It” podcast, Psaki and the host expressed apprehensions about Vance’s role in the Trump administration. She described him as “scary”—even more so than former President Donald Trump—and hinted that Usha might share this sentiment.
Psaki quipped, “I think J.D. Vance, the little Manchurian candidate, wants more than anything to be president. Sometimes I wonder about his wife’s thoughts. Are you okay? Blink four times. We’re here. We’ll save you.”
She elaborated that Vance’s ambition makes him potentially more menacing, noting his adaptability and knack for saying what his audience wants to hear. The episode’s description even referenced her joke with, “Usha Vance, if you need help, just blink twice.”
However, many users on X criticized Psaki’s remarks as attacking Vance’s marriage and trivializing serious issues. Fox News contributor Joe Concha remarked, “He’s not a good person. At all.” Addressing the comments, an account known for its progressive slant mentioned, “An upset Jen Psaki is now slandering J.D. Vance, insinuating that his wife Usha wants to leave her husband.” They added that MSNBC should reconsider Psaki’s position.
Others expressed their outrage as well. Townhall.com writer Amy Curtis stated it was “a totally vile statement,” emphasizing that Usha is happily married to J.D. Vance. A user critiqued Psaki’s character and suggested she projected her own issues onto others.
Federalist senior legal correspondent Margot Cleveland humorously commented, “I have to admit, the ‘J.D. Vance is worse than Hitler’ pivot started sooner than I expected.” Similarly, conservative commentator Doug Powers noted, “A new ‘worse than Hitler’ is on the way!”
Turning Point USA contributor Jack Posevic also weighed in, stating, “Usha is currently accompanying JD in Israel to secure the Gaza peace deal. A totally disgusting comment.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to both the White House and the Vice President’s Office for their responses.
