Plane Crash in California Park

A woman was hit by a small plane that unexpectedly nosedived while trying to make an emergency landing in a busy park in California, as reported by authorities and the media.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. when the aircraft crashed onto the soccer field at Hartwell Park in Long Beach. According to the Long Beach Fire Department, responders arrived to find the plane resting on its belly, its landing gear damaged but the plane itself largely intact.

During the forced landing, the plane struck a woman in her forties on the field. Firefighters had to extricate the elderly male pilot from the aircraft before both were rushed to the hospital.

Fortunately, officials reported that both individuals sustained only moderate injuries and are currently in stable condition.

Early findings suggest the plane had taken off from Compton and made its way to French Valley before returning to Compton, where the crash happened. It was intended to land at Long Beach Airport, located about a mile and a half northeast of the soccer field.

Aerial footage captured the scene with authorities examining the area marked off around the debris, including significant damage to the left wing of the aircraft. Interestingly, soccer practice continued on the field even after the accident had occurred.

Mayor Rex Richardson commented on the situation during a recent City Council meeting, expressing relief that the outcome wasn’t worse. “The good news is it could have been a lot worse,” he said. “Fortunately, there were no fatalities or serious injuries.” He described it as a challenging emergency landing situation.

As of now, the FAA has not provided any comments, and the investigation is still underway.
