Israel Would Completely Lose U.S. Support If It Annexed Judea and Samaria

Trump Warns Israel Over Annexation Plans

On Thursday, President Trump stated that Israel would “lose all support from the United States” if it went ahead with plans to annex Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank.

This statement came in response to a controversial proposal by right-wing members of Israel’s Knesset aimed at annexing territories in light of ongoing Palestinian terrorism.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed support for Jewish settlements in the area but opposes the annexation bill. He argues that it could alienate Arab and Islamic nations involved in the Abraham Accords and the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Reports indicate that Netanyahu criticized the bill as a “provocation,” especially during U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance’s visit, which Vance deemed a personal “insult.”

Trump’s remarks, published in Time magazine, date back to an October 15 speech where he emphasized that the annexation would not be tolerated. “That’s not going to happen,” he reiterated. He highlighted a commitment to Arab nations and the significant support the U.S. has received from them. “If that happens, Israel will lose all support from the United States,” he insisted.

Vance, expressing his disbelief, described the vote as a “very stupid” political maneuver and noted that he found it personally insulting.

The United Arab Emirates, a key player in the Abraham Accords, has long been against the annexation of the West Bank, asserting that such actions would hinder any future peace negotiations in the region.
