Democrats encouraged to 'stop supporting undocumented immigrants' after LA activist confronts ICE agents

Sanctuary Democrats Called Out Following Los Angeles Incident

The Trump administration is urging sanctuary Democrats to reconsider their stance after an incident in Los Angeles where an immigration activist collided with ICE agents, leading them to return fire while attempting to escape arrest.

Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, reported to Fox News Digital that during this operation, a 44-year-old undocumented Mexican, Carlitos Ricardo Parias, attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon against law enforcement. “He began ramming a law enforcement vehicle,” she explained, emphasizing that officers fired shots for public safety reasons.

As a result, Parias sustained an injury to his elbow, while a U.S. Marshals Service officer suffered a hand injury from a ricochet. Both individuals are reportedly in stable condition and have been taken to a nearby hospital for surgery that isn’t life-threatening.

Details Surrounding the Incident

Parias is known on TikTok under the alias “Richard L.A.,” where he actively follows ICE agents. Reports indicate that a crowd gathered to protest outside the hospital following the incident. McLaughlin noted that this wasn’t the first time law enforcement had tried to detain Parias, and he has a history of illegal entries, driving without a valid license, and resisting arrest.

DHS is now pursuing criminal charges against him, including assault and resisting federal law enforcement.

“These incidents reflect the actions and rhetoric from sanctuary politicians and activists who promote resistance against arrests,” McLaughlin stated. She called on political leaders, especially those in sanctuary areas, to tone down their inflammatory rhetoric and stop encouraging violence against law enforcement actions.

Among those McLaughlin referenced were Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and California Governor Gavin Newsom, who have been promoting ways to resist ICE.

Responses to the Administration’s Claims

In a counter-response, a spokesperson for Governor Newsom criticized the Trump administration’s approach, accusing them of undermining law enforcement efforts and creating chaos. They claimed this administration uses aggressive tactics that instill fear in communities.

“This is about more than just the law; it creates a sense of panic among hardworking families,” the spokesperson said. They also asserted that immigration laws can be enforced without resorting to fear tactics.

Additional comments came from White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson, who stated that ICE agents are facing a significant rise in assaults fueled by the hostile rhetoric from activists. She stressed that anyone who harms a law enforcement officer will face serious consequences and urged Democratic politicians to stop siding with those illegally in the country rather than with law enforcement.
